My research interest lies in the intersection of image theories, knowledge theories, and image didactics. Against the background of expanding concepts of knowledge and language, it follows that there is a need to problematize earlier traditions and approaches that characterize the study and production of images in education contexts. The perspective I wish to put forward entails that images be seen as research objects in their capacity to constitute, accumulate, and distribute knowledge and learning. Image work and image studies constitute here an investigative and analytic tool; images as communication and language are similarly a high-priority focus in this connection. These issues are in urgent need of in-depth examination, both at the formulation and the implementation levels.
Teach and supervise in teacher education programmes and specializations related to the image field. Here I stress the issues outlined above.
